Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs

July 11th, 2017

Today was a remarkably busy day. DaNae woke up at her usual time of 4:45 A.M. and started getting ready for the long day ahead. I was fortunate enough to sleep in until 5:45 A.M. I showered and got dressed and made sure that I had packed all of my clothes this time. I finished as much as I could at work with the knowledge that I was going to be able to leave with a clear head and not have to be concerned with anything work related. When work was over I met DaNae at the long term parking deck at the College Park Marta station and we headed down stairs to catch the southbound train. Once we arrived at the station (only one stop away) we headed out and into the airport. We ran through the entrance and headed towards the TSA line. We were a bit nervous to see how it was going to go but there was virtually no one flying out of Atlanta on a Tuesday night and we had no real issues with airport security. We had enough time to stop into a cafe in the airport. Despite having a rather heavy taco truck lunch, I ate a full meal for dinner. Below you can see DaNae's chicken Caesar salad and my roast beef sandwich and chocolate pastry.

After eating dinner we both went to our concourse and waited on our chance to board the plane. I read a few chapters of "Tear Down this Myth." Which is a book that seeks to give a little more truth to the Reagan presidency and undo the mythologized Hollywood conservative gunslinger that modern day Republicans are so obsessed with. DaNae watched a movie that followed various animal families around Asia.

The flight took what seemed forever and we finally arrive in the city. We made it through the airport, and waited at the baggage claim carousel. The bags were not coming down and there was a jam in the chute. A man climbed up the carousel and just started pulling suitcases down, which I was very appreciative of because I wanted to head out and explore the city a little. We got our bag and caught a taxi into our airport. We passed a few different landmark type places like the corporate office for Starbucks. We made it to our hotel and then headed out to check out the city. We walked around for a bit and bought some candy and eventually hoofed it back to the hotel. We remember that the front desk person told us that the rooftop was open until midnight. We went on top of the hotel to check out the view of the city and enjoy the candy. A woman came by and sat down while eating a salad and looked a little judgmentally at me while I enjoyed my candy.

We hung out on the roof for a bit and then made our way back through the hotel to finally get some well deserved rest.
